I honestly don’t understand people losing their shit over someone else not liking a character they love. (I’m talking garden-variety dislike, not hate-language spewing.) I passionately love books and music, but if someone doesn’t like the same stuff, I just…don’t bother discussing it with them. Makes life so much easier and more relaxing.

I don’t mind them not liking my faves, but when they go out of their way to spew hate it takes all the power in my being to not be upset. :(

What do you mean by “go out of their way to spew hate?” If they reblog something and say, “I hate X character,” is that going out of their way? The point of tumblr is to express oneself and hopefully have discussions and interactions about it. If people are only permitted to say nice things, it’s boring. And if someone dislikes a character you love and say, it’s in a tag you follow, it’s not a personal attack on your tastes. I think some people interpret it that way. (I’m speaking broadly here, not implying this is you, grrming. I’m blathering.)

But yeah, I’m in my thirties and I just don’t give a shit about things enough to get outraged anymore unless it’s really vile, like “so and so should get raped.” Obviously that’s different than “X is stupid and I hate him/her.”
