I think what you’re saying came across in the books, but I wasn’t seeing it conveyed in the season 2 writing. I know what you mean, and that is something that I love about the books, but it wasn’t happening for me in that scene.

The TV show hasn’t done so hot at conveying some of the subtleties, in my opinion. I do still love the show. It’s just one area I’d like to see improvement on. Adapting these books is a pretty monumental task, and the subtleties are usually the first to get lost in the fray.
