Everytime I see the Game Of Thrones page asking who we are most excited to see next season, they include Beric Dondarrion. Surely, Beric was already in season one, episode six? As Eddard sends him to counter Ser Gregor Clegane, and bring him to King’s Landing to be tried for his crimes in the Riverlands.
I do ponder, however, what happen to the original casting of Dondarrion - namely the actor David Michael Scott - and as to why he has been replaced.
Nethertheless, Beric is one of my book favourites, he’s like the ultimate zombie overlord and I can’t wait to see him again and see how the show develops him. Though I have little hope that they’d stick close to the book after the storylines the threw of course in season two.
The first season actor doesn’t have much film experience and they probably hired him for the right look and to say just one line. Keeping him contracted for later seasons requires more money be paid. Richard Dormer is more experienced, and Beric is supposed to look rather different when we encounter him again so maybe that was part of their reasoning, too.
