"When the long night comes, north of the Wall becomes the kingdom of the dead."
Mance Rayder (x)

Ciaran Hinds annoyed by the sex and violence in Thrones, finds it “gratuitous”

In a new interview with Irish Central, Hinds discusses his  role on GoT, the show’s famous nudity, and his fellow Irishman Conleth Hill.

Ugg further proof that Hinds was NOT the right choice for this. Everyone with the sex and violence is gratuitous obviously didn’t read the source material.

I mean I don’t like Jon Snow to begin with bad casting choices in his story line are not going to help me like it anymore.

Good thing I do really like Rose.

What does Hinds’ opinion have to do with his acting? He was a brilliant Caesar, and “Rome” had just as much sex and violence as Game of Thrones does. And no actor is required to read the ASOIAF books. You can’t seriously expect the actors to read them. A few have, and that’s great, but all of them- no. Not realistic. A Storm of Swords alone is 1200 pages long in paperback. They’re actors, and it’s a job.

Everyone keeps referring to Ciaran Hinds as “that actor from Rome”…

beximilian:

…when his iconic role was in Phantom of the Opera, duh.

Ciarán Hinds as Mance Rayder

Born a wildling and raised as a Night’s Watchman, Mance is now King-Beyond-the-Wall.

Ciaran Hinds is Mance Rayder

Wow! A bit older than I expected but an awesome actor.

The King-beyond-the-Wall looked nothing like a king, nor even much a wildling. He was of middling height, slender, sharp-faced, with shrewd brown eyes and long brown hair that had gone mostly to grey.

The Dornishman’s Wife

nolollygagging:

The Dornishman’s wife was as fair as the sun,
and her kisses were warmer than spring.
But the Dornishman’s blade was made of black steel,
and its kisses were a terrible thing.

The Dornishman’s wife would sing as she bathed,
in a voice that was sweet as a peach.
But the Dornishman’s blade had a song of its own,
and a bite as cold as a leech.

As he lay on the ground with darkness around,
and the taste of blood on his tongue,
His brothers knelt by him and prayed him a prayer,
and he smiled and he laughed and he sung,

“Brothers, oh brothers, my days here are done,
The Dornishman’s taken my life,
But what does it matter, for all men must die,
and I’ve tasted the Dornishman’s wife!”
