I think the Asha/Yara differences have been grossly exaggerated by the fandom, especially the male parts of the fandom who turned Asha into a supersexy action heroine in their minds. I was pretty disgusted with the things people said about Gemma Whelan when she was cast. She is attractive, she’s just not a stunning beauty. But Asha was never meant to be that.

“Asha is lean and long-legged, with short black hair and a sharp nose in a thin face.” Her sexiness is in her attitude, not flawless features.

Rose Leslie is not extremely far off the Ygritte description, she’s just prettier with more even features. Realistically, there aren’t many people working in the entertainment industry who are going to have a pug nose and crooked teeth. I didn’t mind the difference in her case, since it’s not integral to the character.
