Everyone hated Loras’s hair in the first season. It was a wig. Finn Jones has naturally very curly hair, and it had grown out long enough for season 2, so they used his own natural hair and no wigs. With Margaery, I don’t see the problem. It’s common for women to curl their hair, and Margaery is very fashionable. It’s not a stretch for her to be trying out different hairstyles.

I just feel like HBO is really concerned with their show having enough sex symbols instead of amazing young female characters, (sort of by casting older actresses for Daenerys and Missandei as well maybe??)."

I think there’s more at stake than just sexuality. Nudity does not automatically mean sex. Daenerys is nude coming out of the fire, and shooting around nudity with a 13 year old actress would still be creepy. Then there are strict laws about how much an actor that young can work. It just made sense to cast an adult. The sex scenes between her and Drogo were undoubtedly a major factor, though.

Too soon to tell about Missandei. We don’t know if nudity will be part of her role, or if it was just easier to not cast a child actress to be working in challenging desert conditions.

They auditioned younger actresses for Margaery, George has said, but Dormer wowed them so she was cast. I assume those auditioned actresses were 18+. Not much difference between 16 and 18. I only see Dormer’s age being an issue in one future plot point. Her characterization is fine with me because I always thought Margaery was very crafty and aware behind closed doors. On the show, we get a chance to see that, so to me, this is accurate. She was only sweet and demure as part of her public role, and she is on the show. She’s the Queen of Thorns’ protege so she should be clever and ambitious.
