massawar asked you:How long did the Targaryen’s rule Westeros? Did different families take over and lose the throne periodically or were the Targaryen’s the sole rulers for a long amount of time? Im asking because i always find it stupid when Khaleesi says that the Iron Throne is her birthright and that she will take back what is hers, but if her family ruled Westoros exclusively than i guess im wrong and the throne really is hers
House Targaryen ruled for a few hundred years before the Rebellion, without any other great families taking over. Daenerys is the heir of the Targaryens, since with Rhaegar and his childrens’ deaths, it passed to Viserys, and then of course Dany. She has the birthright in her eyes, but that doesn’t really matter most of the time. Fact is, the Targaryens themselves had no right to the throne when they took it. They decided to conquer Westeros, and their dragons forced all the kingdoms to bow to them. Some might feel they’ve merely take the throne back from the conquering Targaryens (though the Baratheons did have some Targ ancestry). It’s a matter of perspective.
So yes she is the Targaryen heir, but you could argue the Targs didn’t have any rights, beyond the right of might- they were stronger with more firepower. No one deserves the throne by virtue of their birth, when you get down to it.
massawar asked you:Do you think Tyrion could have Varys killed? Or is Varys so powerful/well connected that he would find out immediately and have it stopped?
I think it’s unlikely that Tyrion would get the drop on Varys. He is amazingly well-connected and his little birds are everywhere. He knows everyone’s secrets and I’d say that he’s not above blackmailing people for safety. Chances are, he would catch wind of Tyrion trying to send or hire someone to do it. And Tyrion himself would have a tough time killing Varys unless he found a way to remove Varys’s physical advantage. It’s not impossible, but it’s hard.
