Announcement: Theon Week!

rhymeswithloveweek:

We think all Theon fans will agree when we say that Theon Greyjoy does not get enough love. His tag is a mess, and it can sometimes be hard to find fics, graphics and meta under the sea of hate. Sadly, this is only likely to get worse as the season progresses, so lets do something about it!

Between the 12th and the 19th of May, janiedean and queenasha will be hosting Theon Week. Our goal is to use our combined creativity to  make the Theon Greyjoy tag a better place, and to show our appreciation for Theon as a character.

How to participate:

  • Make Theon fanworks! Fanfic, mixes, art, graphics, meta… anything you can think of!
  • Tag everything #Theonweek  (We will of course be tracking the #Theonweek tag and reblogging everything here)
  • Signal boost! We want as many participants as possible

Questions? Either put them in the #Theonweek tag or send us an ask, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!

For Robb himself, Theon did have a certain affection, as for a younger brother.. but it would be best not to mention that

Anonymous asked: "At least Theon didn't rape any women in the show. I'm actually glad the writers skipped that disgusting scene with Kyra."

Yeah. Though the show has increased sexual violence in other areas, it’s good we didn’t have to watch that particular bit of nastiness. :\

Anonymous asked: "I actually thought Theon was more disgusting in the books. I just started reading it, and seeing how he thinks of women and the way he treats them (specially when he had sex with them) makes me dislike him even more. In the show you see that when he's with the Captain's daughter, but I think that this scene in the books is much worse...his misogyny level is 100 times higher."

Yeah, being inside Theon’s head isn’t the easiest place. I think his attitude toward women is interesting and fits with his character and life, but it’s still hard to read sometimes.

notreeawaits:

I’m reading A Clash of Kings right now, and I feel so betrayed by the TV show, which I saw before I started to read ASOIAF.

MOST OF THOSE SEX SCENES WEREN’T EVEN IN THE BOOK.

What I really want to know is why on earth they made Theon into a huge manwhore that gropes everything with tits.  And why they made us watch him unknowingly feel up his sister.  *shudder*

So yeah, Theon is still a douchebag, like all of the Greyjoys, but he’s less of a douchebag than in the TV show.  So far, at least.

But he did feel up his sister in the same way in the book. And he had sex with the ship captain’s daughter and Kyra and other women we only hear about, like the miller’s wife. That really wasn’t a change- his being very sexual is an accurate adaptation.

“You were a terrible baby, do you know that? Bawling all the time, never sleeping. And one night you just wouldn’t shut up, screaming like a dying pig. I walked over to your crib, I looked down at you. I wanted to strangle you. And you looked up at me and you stopped screaming. You smiled at me… Don’t die so far from the sea.”
